How They Met
Cassidy: Jeff and I met in college at Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Missouri. We met freshman year in 2012 but we didn’t start dating until our Junior year in 2015.
How Did He Propose?
Cassidy: Jeff proposed on July 15, 2017 in Estes Park in Rocky Mountain National Park. He told me we were going hiking but would not tell me where. On the drive up he finally told me we were going to sky pond near Estes Park. We were already half way there when I looked up the trail and told him this was a 9 mile hike round trip. The hike was beautiful! We started at Bear Lake and then had to follow signs to other trails that eventually led us to the sky pond trail. The trail description warned that it was not an easy hike and at some times you would need all 4 limbs.
After about 2 hours of hiking we came out of the tree lines and we were staring at a wall that had a small wooden sign that said “Sky Pond” and the arrow pointed up. We climbed the wall and the pond was right at the top. We walked around the pond to get to the side with the mountains facing behind us. At this point in the day there was no one around, it was just us. I was sitting on a rock just looking over the pond, exhausted. Jeff asked if I got all the pictures I wanted and I said yes. I asked him if he got everything and he said no because he wanted one of us but there was nobody there. As I stood up to start walking back I turned around and Jeff was down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said “yes!” of course. He said I hugged him so hard I almost knocked us off the side of the cliff we were on.
Jeff got my ring at a jewelry store in Oceanside, California, AG Jewelers. We got our wedding bands from Luisa Graff in Colorado Springs.
Why Did You Choose Wedgewood in Black Forest?
Cassidy: My mom and I had been looking at wedding venues for a little bit before I was actually engaged. We knew about Wedgewood in Black Forest because I actually had my senior prom there. After Jeff proposed, I knew I wanted one of the Wedgewood locations in Colorado because of their all inclusive packages. I picked Black Forest because I love the forest and all the greenery and knew an outdoor wedding would be beautiful there regardless of the weather.
Tell Us More!
Cassidy: I went back and forth for awhile if I wanted a Fall or Winter wedding. Since our wedding date of November 30th was right in between, I ended up going with winter. I have always loved the color green and thought that would be perfect for a winter wedding. I chose accents of red to bring it all together. Wedgewood was so amazing in putting together exactly what I wanted. I asked Wedgewood if they would be able to put up all their Christmas decorations during my wedding and they were happy to do so.
Someone asked me during the wedding if it was everything I had imagined and I can honestly say yes. It was like someone went inside my mind and pulled everything out, thats how perfect our wedding was. I would not change a single thing. Tina and her team did an amazing job with everything! I get compliments everyday on how amazing the photos are.
At first, Jeff didn’t want a photographer at first because he said everyone was going to have their phones out. When we got the sneak peak pictures back the next day, Jeff thanked me for getting the photographer and he was happy with the outcome.
Our wedding at Wedgewood was actually on our one year anniversary. We had signed the papers Nov. 30, 2017 before Jeff was deployed and then booked our wedding for our anniversary when he got back.
