How They Met

Rachael: We met in Chemistry class at CU Boulder! We had a mutual friend who introduced us, and we started to sit next to each other in class. We began as friends and study partners, and the rest is history. The professor would always point us out and tell us to be quiet, we couldn’t stop talking during class – Jared always said it was me to blame. Hah!

Location Selection

Rachael: Our engagement session was at Chautauqua Park in Boulder, CO. It is an important place because that is where we took our first hike together with my dog, who became our dog, Bandit. We use to go there all the time with Bandit and also other friends and their pups. It also was a great place to show off where we first met – in Boulder!

Fashion

Rachael:  I knew I wanted something fun, flowy, and airy, and I knew I wanted it to be a dress. I went shopping with my mom on Pearl St. in Boulder, CO. And I found the perfect dress! I decided to go with the boots because I wanted to make sure my feet were comfortable in the foothills of Chautauqua but have a fun western feel. For Jared’s shirt, we went shopping to see what color/shirt would be best to contrast with my dress. Ultimately, Jared loved the blue shirt, and I did too – as that is my favorite color and it is a big theme for our wedding.

Your Fur-Babies

Bandit: Black dog – he was a huskie/black lab/ chow mix. He was originally my brothers dog and then I adopted him once I moved out to Colorado. Unfortunately, he has now passed since our engagement photos. But we are so lucky he was able to be apart of them. In the engagement photos, he was 14 years old! Jared and I enjoyed many mountains adventures with him. He loved his tennis ball and he loved to sing! He even had his own playlist. Among the songs, one of his favorite songs was also one of my favorite songs – Bubble Toes by Jack Johnson. He welcomed Rufus when we adopted him with open arms and showed him the way to obedience, confidence, skill sets and loyalty. Bandit is deeply missed among us all.

Rufus: White dog – he is 3 year old mix. His mom was an Australian shepherd/golden retriever mix, while his dad was a Pyrenees/Burmese mountain dog mix. Quite the personality! He is very goofy and loves all dogs. He tries to play with every dog he meets, even if they aren’t interested. However, as he was rescued, he takes a little but to feel safe around humans. Never aggressive, but certainly shy when people first meet him. Once he warms up to you, he has no concept of personal space, and will plop himself down on your lap, despite being 70 pounds. He enjoys playing in nature and rivers as much as he enjoys lazy days around the house.

Tell us About Your Wedding

Rachael: Our wedding will be in Aspen, CO, on Sept. 28, 2019, at Aspen Meadows Resort. We picked Aspen because not only did we fall in love with Aspen Meadows Resort, but we really wanted a mountain wedding. We live in Denver, and have spent a lot of time in the Vail area, but wanted to have more of a destination feel. I have always wanted a fall wedding as well, so we agreed it was the perfect place with all the colors and perfect weather! Our guests are spread out through out the world with little experience in Colorado during the fall, and we are hoping most of our guests treat our wedding as a vacation while enjoying the beauty of Colorado! Rufus, our white dog, will be our ring bearer for the wedding!!
