How they met

Caroline: We met at Denver Comic Con (before the name changed to Pop Culture Con) in 2017.

What is your proposal story?

Caroline: We have the best proposal story! I traveled back to Japan on a tour with some students and after they flew home, Micah came to meet me in Osaka. We took the shinkansen down to Kitakyushu for a week so he could see where I used to live and meet my friends. While there one day we got a picnic lunch and went to Kokura castle to eat on the grounds. He proposed as we finished up our food. ❤🤍

Wedding planning during covid

Caroline: We planned pretty far in advance before we knew about COVID. When it started we kept hoping it would be over by the time of the wedding, but no luck. We obviously had to drastically cut our guest list, but we were also unsure if the venue would work because it was in Denver county. Everyone had already booked the hotel rooms, so we played around with renting a bus to go to an Airbnb for something,  but thankfully the restriction lifted two weeks before and we were able to have our wedding!

Any other advice?

Caroline: Our advice is to be flexible and be patient, both with the planning and with each other. Also don’t get distracted with the bells and whistles of wedding planning. We picked three adjectives we wanted for our wedding and if we were ever unsure or felt we were distracted or lost our plan we came back to those three to see if it really was something we wanted.
