How they Met
It was a cold winter night in 2016 when Josh and Sarah were out with their friends. They had never imagined that their lives would change forever after this night. On Valentine’s Day, Josh and Sarah met in a tiny, small town country bar in the heart of Fayette, Missouri.
Josh recently transferred to Central Methodist University (CMU) to continue his collegiate baseball career and Sarah was currently attending another university that was two hours from Fayette. She had attended CMU a year prior, but was furthering studies at the University of Central Missouri. It was fate that brought Sarah into town this weekend to visit her old friends.
Josh was out with his baseball buddies at the country bar called Main Street. It was close to closing time when one of his friends made a bet with him to approach Sarah and get her number. Sarah could tell he was nervous, but something sparked her interest. Since there wasn’t much time to talk, Josh failed at getting her number but was able to add her on Facebook. He had invited her to an after party, which Sarah promised she would meet him there. Josh became discouraged when she did not show up that night, however that didn’t stop him from reaching out to her again.
The next morning, Sarah received a message through Facebook. Josh was determined to see her again. They talked for a couple weeks, and Josh convinced her to come back and visit where they could hang out in person. She made her way back to Fayette to watch one of his baseball games and they later hung out that night. Sarah knew in a very short amount of time he was the one she imagined her future with.
How Did Josh Propose?
Throughout their time of dating, they went on lots of adventures together. San Diego, Estes Park in Colorado, and even Cheyenne Frontier Days where Josh expressed that he loved her for the first time. They now have 2 dogs, Nado and Nelly and their cat Hocus. They enjoy camping and spending their time together outdoors.
In the summer of 2019, Josh and Sarah bought their first home together in Castle Rock, Colorado. Josh was able to secretly ask Sarah’s parents for their blessing. Sarah and her family traveled from Missouri to the new home in August 2019 during Sarah’s last semester of graduate school. Right before they unlocked the door to their first home, Josh got down on one knee and asked Sarah to spend the rest of her life as his soulmate. Without hesitation, she of course said “YES” in front of their families.
Wedding planning during covid
Sarah: GO FOR IT! It can be a scary time in the unknown of what your wedding might look like, especially during this time in all of our lives. At one point, we were back and forth about the idea of postponing our day. We even considered doing a small ceremony for just immediate family, and having our reception in the spring. One day, we decided that nothing in this world could hold us back from having the day we have always dreamt of. We decided to GO FOR IT! We knew at the end of our day, we would be husband and wife. We were ready to start our lives together, and that was the most important thing to us. We were ready and we were not going to wait on the world.

We were so happy how our wedding turned out. To make our day extra special, Sarah’s parents, Mike and Robin celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary. They were married 32 years ago to the date in a small town courthouse room. We dedicated our first dance as husband and wife to Mike and Robin for their first official dance. We are so appreciative to Tina Joiner and her associates for recreating our day in our wedding photos. Tina Joiner Photography is unbelievably talented and her and her team deserve all the praise and recognition.
