Winter Military Wedding at Flying Horse Ranch photographed by Associate Photographers Amie Hazlett and Summer Williams with Tina Joiner Photography.
Matt and Renata
Matt and Renata met at the Naval Academy. Although neither one of them live in Colorado Springs currently, they chose to have their wedding here because it is where Renata grew up. Having been active in military ROTC programs since their youth, both attended the Naval Academy where their relationship began. Most of their close friends had also served in the Navy or other branches of the military.
A winter storm had come through Colorado Springs the day before their wedding, thus changing the location for the bride and grooms preparations. Due to Flying Horse Ranch being under massive snow drifts – some reaching the fence tops – the bridal party had to adjust and get ready at Flying Horse Club instead. Generally, a change in plan this big will frazzle multiple individuals, but this family was not shaken one bit! They embraced the change and made it a wonderful day!
Flying Horse Club
Flying Horse Club was gracious in opening up the mens and women’s locker rooms for Matt and Renata and their bridal parties. The locker rooms provided ample space for them and the location was convenient to St. Peter’s Catholic Church as well as Flying Horse Ranch. The Club also has a beautiful multi-storied wine cellar that gave Renata’s dress an elegant backdrop.
Flying Horse Ranch
Flying Horse Ranch looked amazing under blankets of fresh snow. Even though Matt and Renata were unable to get ready at the Ranch, it was still a perfect choice for their dinner and reception. They chose rich colors like navy blue and burgundy with winter greens and pinecones to represent their taste. Florals were provided by Signe Jones. Family style dinner provided by Buffalo Gals Catering was a huge hit with the guests and was served in The Ranch House.
Dance party followed in The Barn where guests enjoyed cake by Bernadette Whitney and a coffee cart from Hold Fast Coffee Co., and music from Celebrity DJ. Outside was The ShutterBus Photobooth. Needless to say, it was a fantastic party. Guests kept the dance floor busy all evening and into the night! Finally, when the party was over, Matt and Renata left the barn as their guests lined their path with sparklers. It was a day to remember for this wonderful couple.
