How the Couple Met
Kaitlin: We met online through a dating app. Kyle was finishing up his Masters in Biomedical Science while I was working for Oppenheimer Funds. Neither of us really liked the bar scene, but we were lucky enough to find each other online.
The Propsal
Kaitlin: Kyle wanted the proposal to be intimate and without anyone else around. There is no better way to symbolize the crazy journey of life than by making me hike seven miles into the backcountry to an alpine lake. There we set up camp and licked our wounds overnight, but the following morning Kyle insisted that we go down to the lake to view the scenery. There Kyle set up his GoPro and proceeded to get down on a knee and asked my hand in marriage.
How the Couple Selected Their Venue
Kaitlin: We both knew that we wanted a more rustic type of venue and what better way to portray that than a ranch? We visited three different venues, but fell in love with the Flying Horse Ranch. The way the staff made us feel and the accommodations they have suited us the best.
Unique Wedding Elements
Kaitlin: You will see beverage burros walking around during cocktail hour. These cute donkeys (Dominque and Burrito) will be dressed up as a bride and groom while handing out beer and wine to the attendees.
Advice from the Groom
Kyle: Have fun with it. The wedding will be your day and planning it with your partner is the most important thing. I am in my first year of medical school and could only pick from a select number of dates due to the lack of free time; plus, with the pandemic going on, the planning process got stressful. One thing that Kaitlin and I kept reminding ourselves is that our wedding is about our love. If we can only have the two of us at the wedding, that will be fine by us. It is our day and we want to celebrate us getting married.
What to Consider When Planning
Kyle and Kaitlin: Photos can last a lifetime and finding the right photographer is a blessing. Finding the person that can share the joy you have between the two of you is a blessing as well. Whether you have no guests or 300 guests the pictures you usually hang on the wall are of the bride and groom and finding a photographer that captures the joy you have on your wedding day is (we think) the most important decision you can make in planning for your wedding.
