Winter at Flying Horse Ranch was photographed by Tina Joiner and Associate, Summer Williams of Tina Joiner Photography.
How they met
Alie: We met in High School, although we didn’t start to date until after we were both done with our college undergrad and he was in the process of getting his masters degree.
How did Andy Propose?
Alie: The day he proposed, we went to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. He proposed at the top of the gondola. Later that evening we met up with our families and had a nice dinner to celebrate.
Planning a winter wedding
Alie: Colorado winters can be unpredictable with weather. We knew that we wanted to take advantage of the beautiful views and snow, but without having to travel around town to get the pictures we wanted. When choosing our venue, we kept in mind that we wanted to be married indoors but wanted a place where we could take beautiful outdoor pictures onsite. When we toured the Flying Horse Ranch, we both fell in love. The staff at the ranch was knowledgeable, kind, accommodating and answered all of our questions.
Any tips to share?
Alie: Paying for a day of coordinator is worth every penny. I’m not sure how people make it without one. We didn’t necessarily need someone to help us plan our wedding, but having someone who knew our vision, knew the venue, and helped us execute the day was a life saver. We were able to enjoy our day with our family and friends, without having to worry about who and what needed to be where and when.
Also, find time to be alone. Even for just a few minutes. We scheduled in 10 minutes after the ceremony to ourselves. Our coordinator hid us away, gave us a few snacks and drinks, and made sure we were not disturbed. Your wedding day is a whirlwind and having this moment to reset and focus on your partner is so special.
