Intimate Summer Wedding in Breckenridge
How They Met
Emily: We met at church through our Young Adults Bible Study Group.
How Did Cameron Propose?
Emily: We really enjoy hiking together. So, one Thursday in January, we went for a walk around Blodgett Open Space. We hiked up to a spot that overlooked the city. Cameron distracted me so that I was turned around looking for something, and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
Wedding Planning During Covid
Emily: I remember calling my dad in February and asking, “Dad, what if our wedding’s cancelled because of Coronavirus?”, and him saying “Emily, don’t be ridiculous, this will pass over just like bird flu, swine flu, SARS, and all the other illnesses that people were worried about.” Little did we know! COVID can be an anxiety inducing time. The months leading up to our wedding, COVID restrictions were changing constantly. As we saw our guest list dwindle and plans change with each new COVID restriction, we continually reminded ourselves that God is good & God is in control.
With the help of our amazing and understanding vendors, friends, and family, we were still able to get married on our original date! By May 15th, our wedding looked nothing like the first one we planned. However, despite having to change things and severely limit our guest list, our wedding was a sweet and special time. Our close family was able to be there, and we were able to spend the day with them. While our wedding day was vastly different than 10-year-old me, or even February 2020 me, would have thought it would be, it was still a day filled with joy and sprinkled with God’s blessings.
Seeing our close friends and family from both sides come together to make our special a day memorable was amazing. And, as we said from the beginning, at the end of the day, we were married, and that’s all that really mattered.
